Your Bathroom Handover in Glasgow

Complete fitted bathroom with bath, basin furniture and toilet

Handover is the time to understand your new bathroom, check the agreed work and collect the information you will need later.

Use the final accepted job as your reference

Have the current product and work list available for the walk-through. Earlier quotes may show fittings you changed or tasks removed from the plan. Check the room against the accepted version, including written updates. Our bathroom supply and installation service sets out the agreed work before fitting, which gives the handover a useful reference. The purpose is to understand what has been completed and raise any difference clearly, rather than rely on a memory of the first design conversation.

Learn the shower and tap controls

Ask for the fitted controls to be demonstrated and try the normal operation as advised. Know which control does what and any instructions for the particular shower. Mention if the operation differs from what was agreed. Keep the exact product reference for later questions, because similar-looking controls may belong to different models. You are learning how to use the completed fittings, not being asked to adjust connections or settings intended for the installer. Raise uncertainty while the explanation can be given in the actual room.

Open the screen, drawers and cupboards

Check everyday movements with the room complete. Open the vanity, mirror cupboard and shower screen, looking at clearance beside other fittings. Ask about removable parts where they have a routine purpose. Do not force a door or assume a drawer lifts out the same way as another product. Our bathroom storage guide explains why the openings and usable interior matter. At handover, you can confirm how the selected furniture works in the room rather than judge it only with the fronts closed.

Basin tap and drain checked during a bathroom walk-through

Understand ventilation and any lighting controls

Ask how the agreed fan and lights operate, including separate mirror controls where fitted. Find out what the household needs to do after bathing under the selected product instructions. Check the operation that has been provided rather than guess from the appearance of a switch or grille. Keep the relevant instructions with the room documents and explain them to other users. If something is unclear, ask the appropriate installer; do not open electrical parts or change wiring to try to understand the arrangement yourself.

Know when the bath and shower can be used

The room looking finished does not establish that every material is ready to get wet. Ask when bathing, showering and normal cleaning can begin, following the instructions for the work and products supplied. Keep that information clear for everyone in the household. Our fitting disruption guide explains why the return of each facility belongs in the plan. Avoid assuming a set waiting period from another job applies to your finish, or deciding it is ready just because tools have been removed.

Ask about cleaning the actual finishes

Panels, tiles, grout, glass and furniture can need different care. Ask which products and methods suit each surface and the accessible shower drain or seals. Keep those instructions where the people cleaning the room can find them. A general bathroom cleaner is not automatically suitable for every selected finish. If you are unsure later, use the product reference when asking the supplier or installer. The handover is a chance to learn the routine that applies to your room rather than replace specific care information with an online tip.

Locate the access provided for plumbing

Ask where the water shut-off valves and relevant access panels are and how the intended access is reached. Know which furniture parts are designed to be removed if necessary, without taking them apart yourself during ordinary use. Keep a note so stored belongings or a later accessory do not block the route. This information helps you explain a future concern to the right person. A tidy wall or cupboard front should not leave the household unable to say where the agreed access was provided.

Plain care folder, cleaning cloth and useful spare bathroom pieces

Keep useful product records and spare materials

Save model numbers, manuals and the purchase or warranty information supplied for the fittings. A photograph of a packaging label can identify a finish after the boxes are gone. Ask which spare tiles, trims or pieces are useful and how to store them safely. A replacement part should be selected from the actual product details, not a guess based on appearance. Keep the documents together so a later enquiry about a handle, hinge or shower part starts with the fitting that is really installed.

Record outstanding items and nearby work

If something remains unfinished or needs attention, name it clearly and agree its next step. Include any surrounding wall, floor or access-route work listed in the job, not only the bathroom suite. Confirm removal of old fittings, packaging and waste where that is included. Keep this outstanding-work list separate from ordinary product-care questions so the action is clear. A shared dated note is more useful than expecting both people to remember the same small detail after the walk-through has ended and the room is in use.

Know who handles a later question

Keep the contact for an installation question alongside the quote, and distinguish it from a manufacturer's product enquiry. Read the actual product and fitting terms rather than assume they provide the same cover. If a problem appears, explain the fitting, what happens and when, using the saved reference details. Do not assume that the handover changes the terms already agreed. A useful final conversation leaves you knowing how to use and care for the room and how to raise a question if something needs attention afterwards.
